Reflecting on the Kent Regional Event: A Journey of Consistency and Authenticity
It was a privilege to stand before my peers at the Valid Path Kent Regional event this Wednesday at the offices of Brewin Dolphin in Tunbridge Wells. Thank you to Alistair Eccleston and the team at Valid Path for the invitation to share my story.
I don’t often look back but reflecting on my career, it is hard to believe I started providing financial advice to clients at just 25. By that age, I was already a father with a large mortgage. A "sink or swim" reality that shaped my work ethic from day one. Fast forward to 2024 and setting up my own business with Advice2U has been the latest chapter in that journey.
People often ask what the key factors to my success have been. For me, it boils down to four non-negotiables:
Consistency - Authenticity - Bravery - Service!
Since launching my Advice2U website and brand, I have been relentless in evolving how we communicate. From our initial website to the upcoming 2026 refresh and moving from high-quality photography into the world of videography this year—the goal is always to stay relevant and visible.
Whether it’s blogging on the website, posting on LinkedIn 51 weeks of the year, updating Google, or our brand-new Business Instagram page, the message is simple: We are here, and we are listening.
But beyond the marketing and the brand, it always comes back to the service we provide to our clients. I often share an old piece of advice with my children that serves as the foundation of Advice2U:
"Turn up on time. Do what you say you are going to do. Say please and thank you."
It sounds simple, but in this profession, it is everything. Woody Allen famously once said, “80% of success is showing up”.
It was great to see so many familiar faces in Kent this week. Here’s to a prosperous 2026 for us all!
PS: I am still doing Dry January and on the final run in now. If you would like to sponsor me, here is the link: https://www.justgiving.com/page/alec-cameron-1 It is for a great cause, The Pickering Cancer Drop-In Centre in Tunbridge Wells. Please help if you can.
