Big enough to cope, small enough to care

I took a few minutes this week to use the Office of National Statistics (ONS) Life Expectancy Calculator, and the results were a powerful reminder of what we, as IFAs, are planning towards.

My personal life expectancy came out at 85, giving me another 22 years from today. That seems a long time! But the real eye-opener? The ONS data suggests I have a 1 in 4 chance of living past 92.
If those odds were on a scratch card, I'd take them every single time.

But when we talk about retirement planning, those odds shift from exciting lottery winnings to a serious question of financial resilience:
Is your current pension projection ready for almost 30 years—or more—of retirement?

We often underestimate our own longevity, basing our plans on the average rather than the possibility. Living to 92 or 95 isn't a statistical outlier anymore; it's a very real scenario that requires meticulous, long-term planning.

Don't let the details of your financial plan fall short of your health and potential. Let's make sure your retirement fund is built for your most optimistic life.
